Our History
|

|

Our story began in 1988 when area pastors suggested that a mission be started in
the Romeo area. Under the direction of area Lutheran Churches, the Michigan District
of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod purchased 8 acres of land on the edge of Romeo.
This is the site where Grace Lutheran is now located.
In 1989, the first gathering for worship took place at Hamilton Parsons Elementary School.
This gathering of believers grew substantially in the next 12 years under the leadership of
Pastor Lynn Witt. In 1991, Pastor Lynn Witt and his wife, Beverly, arrived to begin the over
12 years of pastoral service at Grace until 2003. Blessed by the grace of God, Grace has now
grown from the small beginning of 56 members to our current membership of over 600. Grace
is currently under the leadership of Pastor Eric Majeski.
Over the years, the look of our facilities has been in almost constant transition. The 250
seat Sanctuary, the first structure built, still serves as our primary place of worship.
In May of 2003, we dedicated Phase Two of our building program which includes a large Gathering
Area, a Family Life Center for multiple usages and community events, Classrooms, and
Administrative offices, all of which allow to share the love Jesus with children and
adults throughout the northwest Macomb area.
As we move into the future, we know the God has more wonderful plans for us as we continue
in our purpose of knowing God’s grace in worship and prayer, growing God’s family in friendship
and faith, and showing God’s love to each other and those in our community and world.
We invite you to join us at anytime to discover Grace - you'll never to the same.
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come to pray
to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all
your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13

Our Core Beliefs
|

|
1. God wants all people to
live in a personal relationship with Him.
He
offers this relationship as His free gift to
us.
We
can do nothing to earn or deserve it.
1 Timothy 2:3-4, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9
2. We have a serious problem because we are all
sinners.
We
are alienated from God, eternally separated from Him.
We
are spiritually dead and cannot change our relationship with Him.
Romans
3:23, Colossians 1:21, Ephesians 2:1-2
3. God is our heavenly Father.
God
is just and must punish sin.
God
is loving and wants all people to come back to Him
Matthew
6:9, Deuteronomy 32:4, 2 Peter 3:9
4. God, our heavenly Father, sent His only Son,
Jesus Christ, to earth for
us.
Jesus
Christ is both God and man.
Jesus
died on the cross to pay for our sins and rose from the dead to
offer
us a restored relationship with God.
John 3:16, John 20:28, Romans 4:25
5. The Holy Spirit uses
God's Word and Baptism to bring us back to God.
The
Spirit convicts us of our sinfulness.
The
Spirit assures us of Christ's forgiveness.
The
Spirit moves us to trust in Jesus Christ and restores our relationship
with
God.
Titus
3:4-7, John 16:8, Colossians 1:13-14, 1 Corinthians 12:3
6. The Holy Spirit gathers those who trust
in Christ into the fellowship
of Christ's church.
The
Spirit endows all believers with His gifts so we all can minister to
one
another and to others as we serve God.
The
Spirit transforms us as He leads and shapes us through His
Word,
Holy Communion, and prayers.
The
Spirit empowers and equips all Christians so that together we can
build
up the body of Christ.
